Very curious to wonder what my classmates and peers think about Caitlyn Jenner. Do you agree with the idea of transitioning into a different gender? Opinions? Will Caitlyn be helping the world and help stop the stereotypes of transgender people? www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/06/caitlyn-jenner-bruce-cover-annie-leibovitzattached is the current Vanity Fair article about Jenner being on the cover. I am indifferent about Caitlyn's recent gender change. If that is what makes her happy it is nobody's right to judge. I don't think that it was a ploy to keep the Kardashians relevant, but I am not oblivious to the fact that Caitlyn is making millions of dollars off of her gender change. The money and influence that her family holds is very was, now whether or not Caitlyn tries to help the stereotypes of transgender people is entirely up to her. She has already done a great deal of fighting the stereotypes just by getting the surgery. I think besides that, there is not much else that she can do, but maybe do some charity work, or something behind the scenes. There are still homosexual stereotypes, regardless of the fact that there have been numerous homosexual celebrities. The discrimination over time against homosexuals has decreased, and I think it will be the same with transgenders. Only time will provide us with a definite answer.

I completely agree with the fact that Caitlyn Jenner can live her life the way she wants to and change her body to be comfortable. The way I see transitioning to a different gender is the way I see plastic surgery. Both allow people to change themselves in order to feel comfortable with who they are and how they portray themselves to the public. Quite honestly, I think it is unfair to judge Caitlyn as many people cannot fully understand the struggles of being a transgender woman. Being a celebrity, Caitlyn has become a role model for those worldwide to look up to and hopefully over time she will help to stop gender from being such a social construct.

The entire subject shouldn't even be one of debate. Personally, I couldn't care less about the way Jenner lives her life. It is a decision purely up to her and that's that. The real issue is that this attention, both positive and negative, goes only to those with wealth and position who decide to undergo such a change. You will never hear about what a hero any of the other transgender people are because their incomes are too low to generate a spotlight and press. Caitlyn Jenner did what she should have every right to do without criticism, as anyone else should be able to do. It's kind of sad to think that this is really such a controversial topic in the land of the free, but I am not at all surprised that this particular situation is so popular because it involves a celebrity in a country that puts them on thrones.

Transitioning from one gender to another isn’t a big deal to me personally. I believe that it is a personally choice and if that’s something that Caitlyn wants to do than she can. The only reason people are making such a big deal about this is because its someone who is well known throughout the world. If my next door neighbor got a sex change operation, there wouldn’t be as much attention and publicity on my neighbor as there is on Caitlyn Jenner. I think the impact this will have on the world is it will cause other people to reveal their true identities and their true sexuality. Usually when a famous figure does something radical like this according to the public, people will say “Well if he did it and he’s not getting all this negative publicity than I can do the same,” she is setting an example for the public. She will be helping world and help stop the stereotypes of transgender people but there will always be people in this world who look down upon it.
