Ever since Bruce Jenner has introduced herself as Caitlyn Jenner, the media can’t stop covering every aspect of her life whether it’s her new name, her appearance, and even the reactions of other celebrities to her new identity. But what really got me angry are the comments to these articles.
The comments range from how Caitlyn will always be remembered as a “he” and how this is a mental illness not something you are born with. I understand that everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, but why hate on someone you don’t even know personally? Why would you go through the trouble to write your opinion telling someone his or her decisions are wrong? I think that people are wasting their time doing such.
Many people comment on the name choice of Caitlyn. Women named Caitlyn are now commenting how weird they feel about having the same name as a transgender. They say, “thanks for ruining my life”. It’s just a name. You have nothing to do with it. It’s just like when your parents gave you the name Caitlyn; it probably means something to her.
The comments that really kill me are the ones about how this is a ploy for the Kardashians to stay relevant and keep making money. This is a life changing decision that Jenner made. I don’t think that this is a stunt. People don’t fake this.
Obviously, this is more exposed than other transgender transformations because Jenner has been more exposed to publicity. Reality TV can reveal a lot about a person, but how much are the viewer invested? Why should people care so much about this decision of Jenner’s? What do you guys think?
