I read this article recently after it was sent to me by both teachers and my parents - that alone shows how prominent and concerning a subject it it. Being in show business, this is something I understand will be an obstacle. In most occupations, anticipating the day you're asked to sleep with an employer is not normal. Unfortunately, in this one, it is. This focuses on one particular incident regarding domestic abuse and the ill mannered way in which a well known theater company (with which the couple was working) handled the incident. Within the article, several people talk about starting a support system for people in this situation which I find extremely important because in the part there have been no definitive barriers between what is okay and what is not, leaving many people feeling as if their jobs are at risk if they speak about what happened. www.nytimes.com/2015/03/15/theater/sex-and-violence-beyond-the-script.html?_r=0

Very true. I believe the similar oft applies not only in the acting field, but just in general is a regularity throughout any business, especially for women. The point they make about the generation divide could not be more en pointe than said, as the younger generation does seem to be more conscious of those sorts of unholy behaviors and attitudes, and peradventure, maybe with time and generations as progressive as ours we will be able to change the system. Sadly through, most of the directors are, frankly enunciating, old, and with their age comes the obnoxious wave of different beliefs, hopefully they will be replaced by the younger generation of more broad-minded people, yet even in the groups of our peers there are the corrupt ones, who will be just extensions of the same perverted high-ranking individuals from back in the day. It is a matter that we can all work to change, by raising simple awareness, exposing the predators, and maybe even imposing legal restrictions or calling for more defined licit help. After all, US passes the stupidest laws ever, why not pass a good one for a change?
