Citizen’s United allows companies to act like people and donate money to politicians. Because of this "super pacs” were created which allow an unlimited amount of money to be donated to politicians. This law is extremely unconstitutional because companies aren’t people, and this allows money to rule politics. This law enables companies, and the rich people who own them to sway politics which destroys the purpose of democracy because the companies now have influence over the population. You should not be able to buy a politicians opinion. But this is happening more and more today and there is no stopping it because there aren’t laws regulating this because money controls everything. A politician cares a lot more about a company that will donate millions of dollars to their campaign than that of a single voter. 75% of Americans agree that Citizens United is wrong, and that it should be regulated. But all the people in power like this super pac because not only does it help themselves, but also can help their friends. Politicians are allowed to pass on left over money to a future campaign. The courts are saying that citizens united does not cause political corruption and that the only problem would be if a politician was overly eager to hear a donors demands. This keeps on getting worse because it is increasing corporate power and so companies are spending more and more money and can sort of own politicians like property. Our Democracy is becoming an aristocracy where the rich are using money and their companies to have more power in politics than their should be equals, the common people.
