I believe that as a society, we have become very attached to technology, but it isn't possible to distance ourselves anymore. We are very reliant on technology and cannot function on a daily basis without it. Even if we attempted to, by cutting out usage of cellphones, computers, TVs and other technological devices used for entertainment, we would become very disconnected from the world, and would either have to accept that or return back to our old ways. We use technology so much because everyone else does; this is evident from less-advanced societies in other countries, or even certain areas of certain states where life is not as fast paced and technologically dependent as it is in New York City. This normally wouldn't be problematic, except our relationships are suffering (as many have stated). Many would rather text a friend than talk to them face-to-face or even on the phone. Because of the easy of comfort our cellphones and laptops offer us, we do not hold meaningful conversations and physically stay in the presence of others the way we used to as early as 10 years ago.

Though technology has greatly impacted the way we think about things and go about doing things, I dont really agree with the idea of it making lazier, less thoughtful humans. Calculators simply cut out the busy work involved in math problems, so that we are actually able to focus on more creative and conceptual thinking. I dont really see how that statement about calculators limiting our thought process was valid. Also. itd be a little ridiculous to go about trying to do massive equations without the use of one. The way i see it, technology has provided us with much more good then bad, to a certain extent. It has actually increased our productivity, considering that eletronics can save time in many, many fields of work. Computers especially are very helpful. It hasnt really made us lazier, its just allowed us to progress rapidly and skip steps that would normally take loads of time.i do feel that technology has its downsides, its just that this is not one of them. On the contrary, i believe that it allows us to achieve more by removing busy work and it allows us to focus our creativity into making more progress.
