Homework is the epitome of death for us students. It’s all fun and games until its 10 o’clock and all you’ve done was your English homework. No, but seriously, although homework is fundamental to the nature of schooling and education, there should be a limit to the amount of homework that we receive each night. The worst thing is when you work so hard on homework and your teacher doesn’t even check or collect it. That is just too rude. We take 2-3 hours to work on a homework that we could have replaced with sleep, and then you don’t collect it? You need to get your priorities straight. Homework will always be needed for extra practice and to get better at a certain topic, but when it gets too extreme, we face many hardships. Parents and teachers think the more homework, the better, but they don’t realize the consequences like the lack of sleep which can conjure diseases like high blood pressure or heart failures and the lack of mental stability. But in the end, I’m sure nothing will change, homework all depends on the teacher and if they want to torture us with hours of homework.

I agree that the amount of homework that is assigned to students daily is a lot to complete in addition to all the extra activities people participate in after school but I also think homework is necessary to some extent. I know for a lot of classes I learn more from the homework than from the actual class. There are also a lot of people who may zone out during class or not take notes so I'm sure it is very helpful for them as well. Homework is also a good way for teachers to see the motivation that the student has towards the class. As students we think any amount of homework is annoying especially if we think about other schools that don't give any homework or very little. But if our teachers stopped giving homework for a week we might see how much information we loose from lack of homework. However, overall teachers could definitely assign less homework or homework that is less busy work and more in depth.
